Sony is committed to achieving zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its business activities, as well as across the entire life cycle of its products and services. To reduce emissions, Sony conducts scenario analysis in line with the TCFD Recommendations, analyzing and identifying climate-related risks and opportunities while reviewing appropriate countermeasures. In its pursuit of zero GHG emissions, Sony focuses on maximizing energy-saving initiatives and increasing the use of renewable energy. In addition to reducing electricity consumption at its business sites, promoting the installation of solar power generation equipment, and enhancing energy efficiency in its products and services, Sony also encourages similar efforts within its supply chain. This includes urging contract manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials and components to adopt measures aimed at reducing both direct and indirect GHG emissions. Furthermore, Sony explores methods to offset any remaining emissions through initiatives such as carbon removal.

- As of fiscal year 2024, Sony was named to the CDP Climate Change A List for the ninth time and the fourth consecutive year.
- From 2020 to 2024, Sony achieved its goal of using 100% renewable electricity for five consecutive fiscal years ahead of schedule, cumulatively reducing approximately 180,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.
-Sony China has participated in the “Earth Hour” campaign for 16 consecutive years.2023
- Launched the Partner Eco Challenge Program in China to help partners reduce their CO₂ emissions. The program supports partners by sharing expertise in energy-saving initiatives, holding energy-saving seminars, and conducting on-site energy audits. It also helps partners set targets equivalent to science-based targets and obtain recognition.
-In 2023, Sony Music Group (SMG) , Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group founded the Music
Industry Climate Collective, an alliance that aims to work to address the challenges and changes in the global climate and how they relate to the music industry. SMG has been working with the alliance members to develop comprehensive sectoral guidance for measuring scope 3 GHG emissions in the music industry.2022
